Our goal is to bring attention to languages that don't get much spotlight, especially those at risk of disappearing. We're all about celebrating the diversity of languages and the cultures they represent. By sharing stories from people who speak these languages, including those who are learning them and the experts working to keep them alive, we aim to show just how colorful and important our linguistic world is.
We believe in making the science of languages easy to understand for everyone, no matter their background. Whether it's through stories of the last speakers of a language, insights into the struggles of learning less-common languages, or showcasing efforts to keep languages alive, we're here to make sure everyone can get involved and appreciate the richness of our linguistic heritage.

We're dedicated to preserving and breathing new life into languages that are fading away. By amplifying the voices of those often left out of the conversation, we ensure their stories and perspectives are heard. We're committed to providing content that's accurate, thoroughly researched, and respectful of all languages and cultures, making sure it's accessible to a wide audience. We also aim to support external projects and NGOs to work towards our cause. We are a member of The Society for Endangered Languages (GBS) and contribute to non-profits like Translators Without Borders (TWB) and Students for a Free Tibet (SFT).

How Everything Began
Linguaphile Magazine was founded in October 2021 by Marvin Nauendorff, alongside a dedicated team of three linguists. However, the journey faced a temporary pause in 2022 when the demands of other commitments and increasing responsibilities led the staff to place the project on hiatus. In January 2024, with a renewed vision, Nauendorff issued a call for new collaborators to rekindle the spirit of Linguaphile Magazine. Today, the magazine boasts a vibrant team of seven - encompassing editors, writers, researchers, linguists, and illustrators. Together, they have breathed new life into the magazine, showcasing a fresh design, a new logo, and a philosophy that promises to captivate and engage its audience anew.
